Rabbi Yehiel Grenimann, RHRs Director of the Human Rights in the Occupied Territories, and Jonathan Shefa, RHRs Assistant Director of Human Rights in the Occupied Territories, recently visited a number of the Jahalin Bedouin encampments which have a suffered a wave of demolitions over the last month. The camps are located in the Occupied Territories, on the outskirts of Jerusalem.

Mikhtawish (very near to Khan al Ahmar, which it is sometimes referred to as):
In Mikhatawish, we met with Abu Raid, the sheikh of the village, as well as others. They informed us about the recent demolitions. About a month ago, Abu Raids sons shack (for him and his new wife) was torn down. Jonathan is putting together some donations for the son, his wife and their newborn baby.
We also met with Abu Raids cousin, Abu Suleiman, a university educated activist who lives in a Bedoun neighbourhood of Annata. Abu Suleiman is the head of The Bedouin Cooperative, a self-help organisation for aid to his fellow Bedouin that RHR has worked with over the years. He is originally from the area of Mikhtatawish and still maintains a presence there. His son, Suleiman, had been organizing a group of young people to put up a Bedouin tent and clear a fenced-in yard to act as a welcome center/visiting area for tourists and other visitors. This too was bulldozed.
