Support turns to grief for Israeli teens

In the past week, the South Florida Jewish community has turned out in great support of the three Israeli teenagers kidnapped by Hamas terrorists, but unfortunately this story does not have a happy ending.

According to the Jerusalem Post, the bodies of Naftali Frenkel, 16, Gilad Sha'ar, 16, and Eyal Yifrach, 19 — who were kidnapped from Gush Etzion in the West Bank of Israel on their way home from school on June 12 — were found by security forces in a field northwest of Hebron on Monday, June 30.

The Post report continues: "The discovery came after the Shin Bet (Israeli Security Agency) focused its efforts in the area over two days. The bodies were being transported to Abu Kabir Forensic Institute in Tel Aviv for further examination. The Shin Bet instructed search forces to focus on the town of Halhul, north of Hebron, near where the bodies were found buried in an open area, three kilometers from Halhul. The searches that led to the discovery of the bodies were led by the Kfir Infantry Brigade, the elite Maglan unit and civilian volunteers. The Shin Bet is continuing efforts to track down the two Hamas kidnappers, Marwan Kawasme and Amar Abu Aysha, as well as all those involved in the kidnapping."

Local reaction to this tragic turn of events was swift, as this has been the major issue in the South Florida Jewish community recently — with Solidarity Rallies for the three Israeli teens being held in Boca Raton (June 23), North Miami Beach (June 24) and Davie (June 29).
