https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/news/europe/17019-ireland-donates-05m-to-gazaIreland has donated 0.5 million to the Gaza Strip following Foreign Minister Charles Flanagan's trip to the enclave ended yesterday.
Flanagan arrived in the Gaza Strip through the northern Erez border crossing for a brief visit yesterday.
"Today, I saw closely the size of the destruction made to the Palestinian families during the clashes which took place last year," he told reporters.
He said his country's donation would be paid to UNRWA in order for it to provide for the urgent needs of families in Gaza.

(14,851 posts)Cheap .
Malala , an individual donated $50000 dollars , half a million euros may as well be a handshake and carton of cigarettes for Ireland.

Some cheap donation...

(12,606 posts)Malala and Ireland both have given. Malala has given out of the hope for peace.
Given her character I'm not sure she would share your morbid sense of humor on the subject.

(14,851 posts)For any country to donate half a million is disgraceful... May as well be nothing.

(12,606 posts)Perhaps Israel can give, dave.
Oh, wait they have contributed.
They've contributed to the murders of hundreds of Palestinian children.
While Israel murders, Malala and Ireland hope to help rebuild.

(12,606 posts)Thanks for the kicks.
This thread does show the passing DUer a few things.
1) That some people give.
2) That some people have nothing to offer.

And this receives applause.

(30,109 posts)And he knows very well that any funds going into Gaza goes straight to Hamas.
The money is funding Hamas' teen military training camps, rather than going to Gaza's poor.
You support that, correct?

(45,850 posts)The money is going to UNRWA's schools, would you rather Gaza's children were unable to read and write?

(30,099 posts)Neocon connections
In May 2007, Bassem Eid traveled to South Africa where he mostly spoke to pro-Israel groups. He appeared together with Benjamin Pogrund. Eid chastised both Hamas and the Palestinian authority. Several Palestinian activists in SA viewed Eid as a convenient propagandist for Israel -- a sell-out. An account of one of Eid's lecture can be found here (page 8).
Bassem Eid has appeared as a speaker for a workshop at the International Institute for Counter-Terrorism in Herzliya. One can safely state that Bassem Eid is a Palestinian collaborator with Israel one can determine that by just observing the august company he keeps, rubbing shoulders with Avigdor Lieberman, Shaul Mofaz, Moshe Arens, etc.
In June 2007, Eid attended and was a panelist at the neocon Democracy & Security International Conference held in Prague.
