Anderson Cooper: "The Fact Is, I'm Gay."

I don't read Andrew Sullivan, but this popped up in my FB feed.

The fact is, I'm gay, always have been, always will be, and I couldn’t be any more happy, comfortable with myself, and proud.

I have always been very open and honest about this part of my life with my friends, my family, and my colleagues. In a perfect world, I don't think it's anyone else's business, but I do think there is value in standing up and being counted. I’m not an activist, but I am a human being and I don't give that up by being a journalist.

It could be said at this point: "In other breaking news, water is wet!"

Full story.

Very Latin looking, so unless you are, you probably are out of luck!

of Dayum and Dayum. No, I'm hardly latin-looking at all.

But I have a very, very vivid and wicked imagination . . .

People here knew he was gay but lots of people just know him as a familiar face/voice with some degree of credibility and authority on public affairs.

Now that they have to factor in the fact that he's gay, they at the same time have to reconsider what that means.

Something's gotta give; either the prejudice... or their heretofore high opinion of Mr. Cooper.

It's a win/win seems to me.

I think that's exactly why he did it -- it was getting to the point where it seemed like he was the only person in the world who didn't know he was gay, and it had begun to undermine his credibility. He therefore literally had nothing to lose by finally admitting it himself!

I hope lots of kids see him as an example of what a guy or girl can grow up to be.

he was a huge fan of Snooki?

I thought all along that he was letting people get used to seeing him as "just an anchor" before admitting the obvious. I wonder if he talked about the timing with Don Lemon?

So now you have those two and Ellen. Quite a change when you think about Billy Jean King losing her endorsements and having to teach tennis to survive after being outed in the 70s. Not far enough, but a long way from there.

I am a fan of Anderson. I love the way he handled Bachmann. We also have Rachel Maddow. Another bright mind who just happens to be a lesbian. Thank you both.
