DC Comics is allowing anti-gay author to distort Superman!

OUTRAGE: DC Comics has just hired anti-gay writer Orson Scott Card for their new digital Adventures of Superman.

He's written publicly that he believes marriage equality would lead to the end of civilization. He's also on the board of a notorious anti-equality organization.

We need to let DC Comics know they can't support Orson Scott Card or his work to keep LGBT people as second-class citizens. They know they're accountable to their fans, so if enough of us speak out now, they'll hear us loud and clear. Sign and share!

See the most hate-filled comic that DC Comics is putting on it's online comics:

Also, read the (very good) rant from the Girl Genius comic creators:

he started off as a very leftist comic character:

http://herocomplex.latimes.com/video/grant-morrison-on-superman-as-socialist-crusader-sci-fi-dad-troubled-cosmic-seeker/#/0

He was a working class kid who could have made himself rich, but chose to be the mild mannered journalist that serves. Even Lois Lane is rich compared to him, since her father is a general (that later dies doing an act of genocide). Also, who is the arch villain, Lex Luthor, a person whose rants about profit at any cost and the weakness of common people make him fit Ayn Rand's crew to a T:

http://www.opednews.com/articles/Lex-Luther-and-World-Domin-by-JON-LARSEN-120721-945.html

Read the second paragraph and tell me Lex is not a GOP if not outright tea party.

BUT, of course, DC will not allow Superman to grow, because even back in the 50's powers that be did not like the idea of some suspicious glasses wearing liberal type being Superman, so they demanded changes. I only hope that in the next Superman flick, some of the rougher aspects of Supes come around; that si a rumor, considering that they are trying to avoid the "four color" and go in the more realistic direction that paid off in the dark Knight films.

As far as Orson Scott Card: if you are a liberal LDS member, I apologize for what I am going to have to say. But the truth is, Card is a Mormon that backed Romney. Truth is, as anyone who has read card's idol Robert Heinlein knows, some sci fi authors are hard, hard right-wingers, who really do believe the government is the only thing keeping some sci fi heroes from going out there, killing martians, and continuing the manifest destiny of America. Anyone who doubts this, read both Ender's game (by card) and Starship Troopers (by Heinlein), the worlds described are ruthless and fascist.

3. Fact check

While I may agree with you on this issue, you have made a huge mistake in your fact-checking.

The link you have for the Ben Bates 'comic' is NOT the actual comic that DC is putting online. That is Ryan Sohmner and Ben Bates mock-up of what they 'imagine' it could be. They did that as a politically inspired spoof in order to draw attention to the deeper meaning.

If you leave that as fact when it is not so, you may find that those who read and love comics will not be open to hearing the deeper and more meaningful message that needs to be conveyed.

I'm sorry I did not please you. I am sorry I did not check my 'facts' as well as you thought I should have. Did you know that I have lost jobs because of 'the way I dress'? Or my home because 'of the way I live my life'? Or have a cop tell me that I would be the one arrested if somebody punched me in the face because of how I was dressed and he would consider that I was causing an 'disturbance'? What I'm addressing is bigotry. That is the blatant discrimination of an identifiable group of people because of those who wish the hatred of that people. Get your facts checked.

I am well aware of the 'facts'. I counsel LGBT individuals everyday. I know exactly what y'all are going through. Personally, I have watched my sister suffer horribly from bigotry and discrimination fueled by her sexual orientation.

I can appreciate and empathize with the suffering you have experienced. I also know when fighting for anything or against anything or anyone, that facts are extremely important. Making mistakes gives the opposition an opportunity to focus on the mistake instead of the message.

Your message is important. Please take my suggestion to correct the mistake as support not as the slight you imagine in your mind.
