Brett Jones, the North Alabama man who made headlines with his book detailing his experiences as the first openly gay Navy SEAL, said he encountered an avalanche of sexual and racial harassment during a recent stint as a CIA contractor in Afghanistan.

Speaking with ABC News, Jones said he was forced to leave Afghanistan where he was working after becoming concerned harassment would lead to him being abandoned by others serving with the CIA's paramilitary Global Response Staff. Among the incidents Jones said he experienced were missing equipment and, in one case, being left to walk after being denied access to a truck being used in vehicle tests.
