TV researchers at the British Film Institute (BFI) have revealed they have footage of what is believed to be the first known male-to-male kiss on UK television featuring Sean Connery.
The tapes originally belonged to Public Broadcasting Service WNET New York, which broadcast them after they had been shown in the UK on BBC or ITV. In the scene, which appeared in the 1960 BBC drama Colombe, Connery kisses Richard Pasco, who plays his brother.
Connerys character suspects his brother is sleeping with his wife, played by Dorothy Tutin. In an attempt to understand what his brother has that he lacks, he kisses him.
The footage, which was found at the US Library of Congress and given to the BFI, has led to questions over how it came to be screened.

Are they not sure that it's Sean Connery, or are they not sure it's his first male-to-male kiss on UK television? ... or ... just maybe ... there was some bad copy-editing.

(1 post)If you are talking about the first man-to-man kiss on a British film, then okay... I'm an American and who am I to argue about British films. However, there is at least "one" man to man kiss on American television which dates back to 1941. I would like to point out that it was "not" a gay kiss.
On a 1941 episode of The Three Stooges entitled, "In the Sweet Pie and Pie", Moe and Curly kiss each other right on the mouth. Yes, the two are actually brothers in real life. But, they weren't necessarily portrayed that way in the film. Either way, for two men to kiss each other on camera (or likewise), whether they were brothers or not, was absolutely taboo back in 1941. I guess the difference was that it was comedy. And in comedy, they could get away with a lot of firsts. The Stooges also lampooned Adolf Hitler in the 1941 film, "I'll Never Heil Again", right at the peek of Hitler's dictatorship. That boiled down to being nothing short of a propaganda film during WWII.
They may have been just "The Three Stooges" to most people. But, they were also "ground breakers" in my opinion.
