Parkinson's stem cell 'breakthrough'

Stem cells can be used to heal the damage in the brain caused by Parkinson's disease, according to scientists in Sweden.

They said their study on rats heralded a "huge breakthrough" towards developing effective treatments.

There is no cure for the disease, but medication and brain stimulation can alleviate symptoms.

Parkinson's UK said there were many questions still to be answered before human trials could proceed....

My great grandmother, my father and his brother, now me. Damn disease. Can't find a cure fast enough.

We had one even weirder in my ex family-Freidrich's ataxia. No one had ever had it or heard of it, but it was passed down with devastating results for a young man.

I'm sorry you're suffering and sorry it took so long. I hope help is on the way.

My sister had a boyfriend who had made an excellent living as a produce wholesaler. He has Parkinson's now, and it was not handed down through his family, turns out handling all those pesticides and herbicides on fruits and veggies really IS bad for you.
