One of my favorite movies in now streaming on Netflix!

"The Kindness of Strangers". Here's my review from a year ago:

Let me preface this review by saying I haven’t seen a movie this wonderful in ages. That said, how could a movie titled “The Kindness of Strangers” not be charming? It stars Zoe Kazan, Tahar Rahim, Bill Nighy and a few other lesser-known actors. It opens with a mom and her two children against the backdrop of a spectacular view of Manhattan. They’re there ostensibly on vacation. However, we quickly learn they’re escaping an abusive dad, who happens to be a cop. We then encounter several other characters that are dealing with various personal problems of their own. Serendipity is the underlying theme here, as their lives intersect in mutually beneficial ways. I enjoyed everything about this film. It’s rare when great writing, natural acting, and remarkable cinematography converge in a movie. I just wish there were more movies like this being made. It almost seems like something from the Golden Age of movies. The films of Frank Capra come to mind. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

11. Loved this movie and all the actors (unknown to me) and Bill Nighy.

I sometimes think Nighy is to acting what Dave Grohl is to music. They both make me smile.

This movie made less than $80,000.00 box office and was slammed at MRQE.COM - by the Ebert reviewer.

I watched a few minutes of it and then checked the reviews and box office receipts.
I'm a BIG fan of Bill Nighy - the reviews convinced me to forget it.

This from Wiki: According to the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 31% of critics have given the film a positive review based on 36 reviews, with an average rating of 4.3/10. The site's critical consensus reads, "A talented onscreen ensemble is done no favors by The Kindness of Strangers, which searches for meaning and comes up empty."[12] Metacritic reports a score of 32 out of 100 based on 11 critics, indicating "generally unfavorable reviews".[13]

13. Perhaps you should have given it more than a few minutes.

Screw the critics. I really enjoyed it. And I usually give a movie a half hour before I bail.
