Murdock Mysteries

This is by no means a great show, but it's addictive. It takes place around the turn of the 20th century and uses such illustrious characters as Conan Doyle, Houdini, Buffalo Bill and Annie Oakly. The costumes, sets and props are wonderful, very understated and not overdone as some costume dramas are. The characters are very much at ease in their vintage costumes and sets. It's also fun to see the beginnings of our now high-tech crime solving techniques: finger print identification, X-rays and ultraviolet light to name a few. Not to mention that Yanick Bisson is awfully cute. Haven't seen eyelashes like that in a long time.

Slow to warm up to it, then couldn't wait to see the next one. Starts getting kinda funny once you start paying attention to his inventions.

I almost stopped at the first episode because I'm not really into costume dramas, but then I got caught up in the gentle humor. Then I began to appreciate the costumes and props. I'd kill for that deep yellow Alladin shade in the police office.
