If anyone else is using fitbit and myfitnesspal, I am

Still wearing my fitbit all the time. Have lost 13lbs since mid-July, but have a long way to go. (At least 100lbs)

I rarely come on DU anymore because I find worrying about all the stuff going on in the world revs up my anxiety, and I really need to take care of myself right now.

Helped me to 15+ lb loss since January. Also have the Aria scale which says that my loss has all been fat. Currently trying to break through a plateau to get to 20 lbs down, but would like to lose another 20 as well.

Muscle conducts electricity better (more water) than fat does. The scale sends a small, unnoticeable current into one foot, it travels up your leg, across to the other leg and back through that foot to the scale. It uses that and age, gender, weight, height to calculate a number. The method is not horribly accurate, so it is better used as a relative, rather than absolute indication. You should weigh yourself at the same time of the day, having as much the same (hydration, food intake, skin dryness) as possible.

What I do is to weigh myself in the morning right before taking a shower, (having taken care of other needs first). That should be my lowest weight of the day and I feel that skin dryness will be more the same before showering. Some scales recommend after showering, but some mornings, I'm more prone to lingering in the shower...

Time to focus on ourselves a bit more and realize we can only do so much on an individual level.

I lost more than 30 pounds a year ago walking and keeping carbs <70 grams... Stress,a bad ankle and cold cold weather piled 20 pounds of it back on, so the next purchase will be a heart rate monitor so that I can better track indoor exercise.

I don't do facebook so not sure whether that is needed to communicate with others on fitbit or myfitnesspartner, but I'll be rooting you on as well!

I've thought about getting a heart rate monitor too, but funds are tight right now, so it's low on the priority list for now.
