I'm experimenting with Mollie Katzen's potato crust (this is her recipe for cauliflower pie) and adding parsnips. I'm also trying a thicker crust.
I'm doing little bits here and there to make this, as I've too much to do with putting in my garden to spend one long stretch in the kitchen during daylight hours.
Mesclun salad with citrus dressing for dessert.

Beep beep, change of plans.
Spouse coming home from trip early, guest coming over for dinner.
Beef brochettes, salad, potatoes on the grill.
No time to experiment today! I had to clean up the dining room.

(1,706 posts)got some kohlrabi at the Farmers Market today, so will try putting that in along with the standard carrots, celery, peas, potatoes and green beans.
I also got some nice local strawberries at the Farmers Market, so I thought I'd make a batch of biscuits to have with the stew, and also with strawberries and whipped cream for dessert.

(22,340 posts)going to sautee some asparagus, green onions, garlic snape (did a little happy dance in my head when I saw the vendor with some), sweet peppers, and mushrooms in a meyer lemon infused olive oil I have and have that over some whole wheat pasta. And a salad with the spring greens and spinach I bought (for $4, I got enough of this for salads daily for the week) with a dressing of raspberry balsamic vinegar and olive oil.

(22,340 posts)They are going to make the dish. The Meyer lemon olive oil is pretty solid, too.

But they might have some good food.
OTOH, I really dislike alcohol during the day and will probably be asleep by 4 PM.

(146,218 posts)I like wine with dinner but rarely have to do anything of importance after that.
My first drinking experience told me all I needed to know about me and alcohol during the day, lol.

(24,146 posts)trying to limit it today, but the pain is ramping up. my sister was nice enough to bring me some croissants and fruit, some of the few things that sound appetizing right now, i'm hoping i'll feel better once i have something other than crackers and popsicles in my belly.
