Easy. Tasty. Need to clean the kitchen, even if I didn't cook since Sunday. Where do those dishes come from?

Took me forever to get into here. My star expired, and the ads completely froze up my computer.
Al is still feeling icky. I think the exhaustion is what is bothering him the most.
I am still testing negative. (I even went over to Dad's to make him a pizza--masked of course, and I made him wait in the living room until it was done.) But I have cold symptoms. Maybe allergies. Sis thinks that the bivalent booster I got has afforded me the protection I needed so that I haven't caught this from Al.

(22,767 posts)They reduce the need for hospitalization or worse. Still can catch it, still can spread it to others. That's always been the case.
Hope you both feel better soon.

(38,591 posts)Sis told me that she was under the impression (she's not completely uninformed) that because this shot was specific to Omicron, that there may be SOME protection against catching it. Maybe not 100% protection, but some.
Honestly, I can't think of any other reason why I haven't caught it. Hell, I sleep in the same bed as Al... We're together 24/7. And since my identical twin has had it, I seriously doubt that I'm naturally immune.

(22,767 posts)I spend a lot of time reading articles, and I could be wrong, but have never once seen anyone say that it protected 100% against infection. (The only people I've ever seen who believed that they protect one from infection completely are the anti-vaxxers who enjoy laughing at people who still get it after being vaxxed and boosted.)
I mean, they all add protection to some extent, in coordination with other layered mitigations (masks, distancing, etc.), but there have always been break-through infections, especially as date from immunization becomes more distant.
Just be careful.

(22,059 posts)The First Mate marinated a beautiful flank steak in soy sauce, garlic, salt and pepper. She is searing broccoli spears in olive oil and about to put the beef in the pan. We also have my favorite potato chips, Cape Cod Russets. Spiced apple slices for dessert.
The weather has finally mellowed out after a week of storms. Were leaving Atlantic City early tomorrow morning to catch a favorable tide and sailing to Cape May, NJ. Back out into the Atlantic Ocean!

(35,780 posts)I had to look that up. For others who don't know:
Okonomiyaki is a Japanese savory pancake dish consisting of wheat flour batter and other ingredients cooked on a teppan. Common additions include cabbage, meat, and seafood, and toppings include okonomiyaki sauce, aonori, katsuobushi, Japanese mayonnaise, and pickled ginger.

I've had this before in restaurants. Just forgot what it was.
