Halloween-Recipe: "Fried Maggots"

Ingredients:
- Basmati-rice
- oil

1.
Washing the rice: Put the rice in a bowl and fill up with cold water. Stir until the water is cloudy, then rinse. Repeat (about 5 times) until the water is fairly clear.
(This is a standard procedure in middle-eastern and indian cuisine for cleaning the rice-grains from dust and for making your cooked rice fluffy.)

2.
Cooking the rice: Boil the rice until the rice is ALMOST done. Al dente. Do NOT cook it through. The rice-grains should have small ridges on the surface, similar to the segments on a worm.
(Pre-boiling the rice this way is a standard procedure in middle-eastern and caucasian cuisine when making a rice-casserole.)

3.
Frying the rice: Drain and dry with paper-towels. Then slowly fry in oil until golden. Due to the ridges on the half-boiled rice-grain, it will now look like a fried maggot.

Sprinkle as garnish on other "horrible" food.

Worms in blood - cooked spaghetti in tomato sauce - eye-ball cookies - decorated round sugar cookies to look like blood-shot eyes - kitty-litter cake - had a recipe for this - vomit pudding - kool whip, crumbled cake and crushed pineapple - touch green cake color. We had some great Halloween parties when the kids were young.

Miss those days,
