But our oven bit the big one this week. Now I'm feeling uninspired by the chicken breasts/hamburger/pork chops in my freezer I could cook on the stove top.

It is raining and 33 F. and a mess with the melting snow turning to ice. I may switch this menu to Bean and Escarole soup

Dropping to 5 deg tonite--combine chicken noodle soup with left-over risotto, carrots and peas.

Years ago I had to work late on Fridays (had to stay til the payroll got done or people would get mad!) and ever since I'm on kitchen strike on Fridays only. Hoagies tonite.

I'm using Gorton's frozen fillets. They've upgraded their product line. The Tilapia are good sized, moist and bake up well. Just have to dust with dill and black pepper...

We like the crispy battered filets. They're on sale fairly often so I usually take advantage and stock the freezer for those too-busy-to-cook days.

Mashed potatoes, carrots stewed with the roast in a red wine gravy, steamed broccoli and a lovely whole wheat ciabatta roll. Very satisfying and now leftovers to pick on over the weekend. Happy Friday!

Besides, I have to make a dozen pie crusts today for my big benefit party on the 25th. I'll chunk them in the freezer and roll them out the day before. Having leftovers allow me to do this today. Enjoy your pot roast!

We are still stuck in engine repair mode. My home is totally torn up with greasy tools and men everywhere. I can't get in the galley, because the engine is under the floor in there.

biggest anxiety is being thrown out of this marina and having nowhere to go.

That's the downside of being off the grid. You are essentially homeless and have to comply with the rules of the marina in which you visit from time to time.

My deepest regrets! I hope it is fixed soon. I once had dinner with a motor engine myself; not fun!

appetizer: crackers with garlic goat cheese drizzled with agave and walnuts

1st course: cheese tortellini with roasted tomato sauce, topped with basil pesto

2nd course: chorizos in toasted flour tortillas with garlic potatoes (sliced)

Dessert: dark chocolate

Chilean red served with above.

You can come to my place! It's 51 degrees now but on the way straight down by this afternoon. Ice is predicted for tonight. Still no snow here (I'm not complaining).

It is a bloody mess.

They will work on it again today, but I remain anxious about where we will go.

I would take ice and snow at this point.
