And I have researched and researched and cooked it for years and am CONVINCED I now have the best recipe. I searched for years and now have been using this one for the last 5 years or so.

Main thing? NO CREAM!!! Use reserved water from boiling the pasta and it is PLENTY creamy.

Basically like this. BTW, use LOTS of pepper and half the eggs should be JUST yolk.

It is also nice, I find, to combine bacon with slow cooked onions and garlic (just my personal preference but also nice simply and without).

I'm really getting into Asian soups. There are infinite possibilities. And they're pretty healthy!

cut it into 3/4" or so slices. Heat oven to 375 F. Oil a baking sheet and lay the pieces out on the pan. Brush olive oil over each piece, sprinkle a little salt on too. Cover the pan with foil and bake about 25 min. You can remove the foil after 25 min and bake an additional 5 or 10 min. if you want the squash to be a little crispy.

The main course was a mushroom-barley "risotto" and I also roasted some brussel sprouts on a separate baking sheet.

I am thinking about roast in the peel, then scooping out. The thought of trying to peel this thing makes me nervous.

Thanks!

Cold out.

I have Wednesdays off, so I like to browse the ethnic markets around here. Today I went to the Polish area and bought stuffed cabbage rolls, mashed potatoes, cole slaw, and tossed green salad.

Bread pudding for dessert. Tiny piece, barely two square inches,

Bonobo, I'm savin' that post about your experimentation on this dish.

And cbayer, I'm so skeered of peeling butternut squash that I always roast mine like that.

We are running low on propane with no easy option for refills, so.....

I think I am going to take my chances and try peeling it. And I have some leeks and cream, so I think I will make another soup. Soup is so wonderful when the sun dips and the temperature drops.

I, like you, love all kinds of ethnic foods. I heard a great show on the radio last night about different regional taboos and customs - love those kinds of stories.

Unfortunately, in my current location, pretty much every restaurant in town gets their supplies from the same vendor, so the food is amazingly bland and similar. But when I get over to the mainland, I go for every kind of ethnic food I can get my hands on.

Enjoy your polish dinner. It sounds wonderful, cher.

Halve, scoop out the seeds, slice the halves to the size you want, then just run a knife between the meat and rind of the slices laid out flat. You don't have to maneuver the whole squash that way.

Linguine, sautéed yellow summer squash. Maybe I'll make some oatmeal raisin cookies. (I need to get a grip on my passion for garlic and sweets).

What makes it triple tomato sauce?

I was thinking maybe regular tomatoes, sundried, and ...? Tomato paste? Or canned tomatoes?

I read your post, went out on some errands, and found myself wondering the whole time.

Saute some diced onions and garlic in olive oil, add all of the tomatoes, salt and pepper and let simmer until most of the liquid is reduced. Mix cooked penne with the sauce, some chopped flat leaf parsley and crumbled goat cheese.

Save for browning the meatballs in a skillet, it's a one pot meal. Most of the work is prep.

(on edit) I may save the broccoli for another dish. Looks a little out of place / taste here.
