John Julius Norwich's A Short History of Byzantium that was obviously copy-edited using a computerized spell checker, but not well. All the words are spelt correctly, but sometimes it's the wrong word. For example, in his discussion of a seventh-century Christian heresy called Monothelitism (interesting in that Third Council of Constantinople anathematized Pope Honorius I as a heretic), there is a sentence in which "Monothelitism" is replaced by "Monotheism".

As Mark Twain said, "The difference between the right word and the almost right word is the difference between lightning and the lightning bug."
