condiments, garnishes, sides, drinks. So at this point in the morning, it's looking like some bizarre potluck salad with romaine, avocado, leftover grilled pineapple, and grated pepper jack cheese. Unless I do that for lunch, and have to figure out a different dinner. Maybe I'll just throw up my hands and dig an expired can of corn out of the pantry to use, heh.

Although the historical basis of this day is Mexican, this is an American holiday.

The local gringo hangouts are doing some sort of celebration, which we are not likely to attend.

We will be eating our tuna sashimi. Not sure what else.

If you ask people about it around here, they just look at you blankly.

It does commemorate a specific event that took place in Puebla and there are many streets named after this date, but it is not an day that includes any kind of celebration.

and I'll probably make a veggie fried rice to go with. I'll skip the Cinco de Mayo stuff this year, seeing that it's always 05 May in SoCal.

Woke up craving, craving, craving and held off 'till 9. Then went with a friend across town to a local breakfast, lunch & dinner diner. They grind their meat on-site. Really good.

I have some red leaf and oak leaf lettuce that needs picking, so maybe a fruit salad with cheese and crackers.

to find a place that did its own burgers and to no avail.

That is a rare find indeed.

I quit having burgers out. Instead, I make my own patties. I'd love to be able to go out for a burger and I sometimes do, but it's knowing full well that what I'm being served was a frozen patty.

Looking forward to it.

stir fried veggies (snow peas, red bell pepper, carrot, zucchini, and onion) and rice-a-roni rice pilaf.

I cut up one red pepper, one good sized carrot (on the diagonal), cut the zucchini into chunks, and the onion into good slices. I'll stir fry one portion at a time to go with various meals for the next few days.

Too bad I didn't have a nice Pouilly-Fuisse to drink. Oh, well.
