Two Christmas parties today, but I am only going to one. The one I went to was a lunch (actually, they called it a bruncheon), and the fun part was how they served all these different kinds of empanadas. Have you ever heard of a Philly cheese steak empanada? Yeah, well they had it at this party.
I boycott the other party because a new administration changed the format and types of food served and I liked the old way better. So instead I stay home and make my own, which is like what they used to have.

(9,838 posts)field peas and greens with cornbread!!! What else is new?
Tomorrow is our traditional family Christmas. We will be having turkey breast and dressing, ham, peas, mashed potatoes, braised red cabbage with apples, steamed broccoli, glazed sweet potatoes, roasted turnip & carrot dish (I don't have a recipe yet, will just make it on the fly), olives/pickles/tomatoes, etc. dinner rolls, an assortment of Christmas goodies baked by family members. Oh...and a nap!!!

(22,156 posts)Mix it in a small casserole with 6-8 cloves if garlic, halved. One cup of green olives (sliced), 2 T virgin olive oil, salt and pepper to taste, dried or fresh thyme, marjoram and sage. Cover tightly with foil and bake at 375 F for 50 minutes.
No need to thaw the beans 😊.
