Subzero windchill and feral cats/update

Last edited Wed Jan 7, 2015, 08:07 PM - Edit history (1)

Princess peanut needed to go out @ 4:30am. When she went out, 2 feral cats raced out from under the car. . If I had a clue, I would have made some kind of better shelter.
*updated * I moved stuff around to create a kind of a maze so the dog can't there too quickly, and I used what was going to goodwill clothing as insulation. Best I can do today...

The dog might be elderly, but she is part greyhound. I haven't poop scooped the back yard in at least 2 weeks, I would have expected there to be a odor. I really hope they found safe shelter.

Down is unbelievably warm. I just posted about that in fizzgig's thread about their kitty being cold in the house in this horrible frozen weather.

Do you have an old down coat or something you don't use anymore? Maybe try some thrift shops for cheap down coats you could use.

I feel so bad for any creature out in weather this bad (I'm in it as well though Yoshi is loving it).

Long story short...a neighbor was living in my storage shed (he has since found better warmer shelter)for a while due to his family problems; there is quite a bit of his stuff under the carport cover, I got his permission to adjust his stuff so I can create a warmer space for the ferals and I'll put out some catfood later tonight. I'll figure out a way to keep some unfrozen water out there too.
It's not just the cold, the dog is not going to be happy with strange critters in her yard and I don't want her hurting herself or them.
