My dog has his own prescription drug card at Costco now...

I dropped off the new script for the heart worm medicine and filled out paperwork just for him. The pharmacist said it was much easier to keep up with the pets separately than when they tried combining them with the owners. Plus, he does not have insurance and they may be able to save us some money that way.

Wonder if they'll send him coupons in the mail?

but there's a big animal display at the front now. They have many of the flea meds without prescription too.

I have to curb my spending there. I didn't think I would use it as much as I do but now it's so convenient. I can drop in and just buy bananas!

She had kidney disease, and needed a blood pressure med that was also used as a human med. The vet told me I needed to get it at a human pharmacy. And since it was a generic, it was less expensive with the Walgreens card.

so that I can afford the dog meds!

I posted recently abut how much Costco saved us on my husband's medicine. It was incredible!

15. I'm on a couple of different meds so I have scripts at Costco, Walgreens and CVS.

They are all in my area and they all have different prices and take different discount cards on different drugs. If I went to my local yokel pharmacy for all of my meds I would be spending over $600 a month. With a little research and creativity I got it down to about $140. It's an expense but in order to increase my health insurance to get prescription coverage it would cost me twice that much.

So the dogs all have discount drug cards too!

11. I checked just today about Rimadyl. It is $120 for 100 of the 100mg chewable.

That is as cheap as the non-chewable caplets you can get online.

14. The Rimadyl is outrageously expensive.

There are generics, but none of them are cheap. When all is said and done, it is just another form of Aleve. An NSAID.

We give ours the Rimadyl and Costco's glucosamine and chondroiten pills, which are huge. I have to angle her head straight up, put my thumb and forefinger behind her upper canines, pry her jaw down, drop in the pill and use a finger to push it down her throat. I have to pill both the Border Collie and the GSD. Dogs have almost no gag reflex, so this isn't as hard as it sounds. It looks scary, though, when you do it in the 12" long wood chipper mouth of our GSD!
