One mom takes aim at gun violence

We can do better.

Better than 82 people shot in one city in 84 hours. Better than a father losing two of his children, a year apart, to gun violence. Better than a shooting per week on school grounds across the country since the Sandy Hook Elementary School murders in December 2012.

We have to do better.

"The gun lobby has done a very good job over the past three decades making a vocal minority fear their guns will be taken away," says Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action For Gun Sense in America.

"We fear our children will be taken away."

Monsanto mom who is a PR executive for the billionaire Bloomberg's group pushing some PR. There are already existing federal laws in place if they were just fully enforced.

As a host of the other gun group that strictly enforces their SOP to the point of censorship, it would be nice of you to follow the SOP here. I am sure you are again going to ignore this polite request and run away and hide.

How about a crack down on gangs. Lets strengthen the penalties for illegal gun use and start enforcing them.

Follow the money.

Anyone who was really concerned about gun violence in Chicago would be taking steps to avoid the gangs and drug lifestyles that are at the heart of the violence. Since buying and selling illegal street drugs is an industry with no access to the court system, business disputes are handled in a more direct fashion. No different than when Capone was selling bootleg booze during Prohibition. But that doesn't suit the current narrative that seeks to blame lawful citizens going about their daily lives for the reckless actions of a very small segment of society that observes no laws.

And Sharon Watts happens to be a mom, which doesn't require a heart, or a soul, or much of a brain.

I'm thinking after her work with Monsanto and other big players, she's not hurting for cash.

Being a mom doesn't grant any special status to a woman unless there's some magnificent parenting going on.

The same is true for dads.

What worked for MADD, they'll admit, might work for gun control, except that MADD targeted the USER, not the vehicle.

Exploiting motherhood is, IMO, just despicable.

OP's here should have some comment, or at least some response to the responses. SecMo has an awful habit of doing this, both here and in Religion. He drives by, posts, and disappears. Many of his OP's are good and most are good fuel for debate, yet he never engages in the debate, which is sad. This is why so many dismiss him out of hand.
Regardless of one's position on something, one only gains respect through participation in the conversation, not by pasting quotes from the web.

that is not part of the SOP and words have meaning, you do not get to change the SOP.

Discuss gun politics, gun control laws, the Second Amendment, the use of firearms for self-defense, and the use of firearms to commit crime and violence.

discuss

: to talk about (something) with another person or group

: to give information, ideas, opinions, etc., about (something) in writing or speech

Since SM in hundreds of posts has failed to discuss on the topic he does a Google cut and paste on he is in fact violating the SOP. It is more like spam to bait people in this group to get a hide and he, she or it is failing miserably.

I've posted here with no further comment and nobody objected. I've done the same in numerous other forums/groups and nobody complained, only here does anyone bitch.

Why is that? Why is this group so obsessed with one DUer?

SecMo posts and there is a discussion. Seems to meet SOP to me. He posts, you guys post responses, ergo discussion.

Still I wonder what is the facination? My feelings are hurt because I've done exactly what SecMo does and nobody cries over it. Is there no love for me?

I think perhaps you need the SOP thing so you don't have to deal with those posts.

and at least you have entered a discussion in every one I checked even if you did not in the original post. You start posting in excess of 500 post like SM and stop discussing within those posts you might get treated the same way and then you can be happy. Just try a little harder.

Secular has hundreds of posts in this group without comment or discussion in the post with other members.

SM is a host and strictly enforces his SOP in the group he hosts to prevent anyone that they do not like over there. I have nothing against SM except the outright hypocrisy he is doing by posting here and not adhering to the SOP while strictly enforcing his SOP. I give our host here credit for allowing all viewpoints and basically not blocking anyone unlike that other group. A host should be held up to a very high standard and the polite thing to do is follow the group SOP he, she or it is posting in..

"More prone" being the operative phrase. Though I'm not too sure about the definition of the word "gunner". If it means gun owner, then NO, they are not prone to being asshole any more than anyone else. 2A absolutists, then I'd say YES, definitely prone, as all absolutists tend to be assholes.
