(68,644 posts)It's so easy to do in the Internet, to post false attacks against your own movement and they cry foul.
Pretty disgusting behavior regardless of the perpetrator.
I don't think it's particularly worthy of discussion.

(38,501 posts)Wonder how they would manage to live in countries like England, Canada or Japan, where not only are the laws much more comprehensive, but the people are known for being friendly and decent. There goes the notion that an armed society is a polite society.

(17,502 posts)I frankly doubt they are real any more than I believe the people open carrying rifles in random Krogers are real. Disinformation, planting stories, smearing opponents have been used by propagandists since before the pyramids. I'm sure Shannon Watts used learned and use those same techniques while working at Monsanto.
otohara
(24,135 posts)but nothing about the 30,000 who die each and every year by guns.
I may have allergies because of Monsanto, but my neighbors 9 year old never will. He's six feet under at the hands of his
father, a responsible gun owner until he was 60.
Speaking of Monsanto, here in CO we're fighting to expose GMO's. Spent two hours on the phone listening to sponsors of the bill and the many questions and comments from callers. It was very informative - can't say that about guns, because the NRA and their talking points get repeated over and over and over, while people like me get shouted down and even threatened online, even on so called Democratic sites, like DU.
Seems Colorado cares more about keeping people alive and healthy and many people are furious about that.
GGJohn
(9,951 posts)Even the majority of the Sheriff's in CO. are refusing to enforce the mag. limit because they know it's virtually unenforceable.
otohara
(24,135 posts)and hate the government they work for, unless the POTUS is a Republican. Can't believe after all the cop gun violence you're standing up for the very organization who thinks they can shoot who ever they damn well please.
Cops like to shoot first and know only Republicans will back up their shoot first policies.
You want mags, go to Wyoming and blaze away.
You want some excellent organic weed, come to Colorado.
GGJohn
(9,951 posts)I asked you how these new laws are keeping people alive?
How would that mag limit law be enforceable?
The reason the Sheriff's don't enforce those laws has ZERO to do with who is president, it has every thing to do with it not being enforceable.
I don't have to go to WY to get mags, my state has the good sense not to pass such do nothing laws and, I don't smoke weed or do any drugs except those prescribed by my Dr., but I have no truck with those that choose to do so.
otohara
(24,135 posts)Fucking pigs care more about guns than people.
They've got enough military equipment to blow us away.
GGJohn
(9,951 posts)how about answering my question.
Here, I'll frame it again, how many people has the mag limit law saved to date?
otohara
(24,135 posts)and why on earth should I respect the cops who continue to kill innocent unarmed people.
The military cops of today are scary, corrupt, liars, and gun nuts. You know they hate us too, call us scumbags,
dirtbags, garbage.
GGJohn
(9,951 posts)Crime is down because of the new MJ law I would hazard a guess.
But you still evade the question, how many people have been saved because of the mag limit law?
otohara
(24,135 posts)Because gun nuts who are bent on owning the most dangerous guns and the clips that make all the murder and mayhem happen, then I'm pretty sure they'll find a way even if it's illegally.
Colorado made it just a teeney weeney bit harder for folks to obtain uber-clips here and a whole lot easier to buy quality marijuana without the cartel.
How many people were shot at Aurora, 72 I think. Isn't one of the survivors paralyzed?
How many parents do you think miss their dead by gun children?
GGJohn
(9,951 posts)has had a detrimental effect on Dems chances of keeping the governorship.
otohara
(24,135 posts)and guns are the reason.
I will continue to worry about my safety and especially my son who works for touring band. They spend a lot of time in states where guns are everywhere.
What a stupid uncivilized country, the world watches in horror
Shameful and embarassing

(17,502 posts)father, a responsible gun owner until he was 60.
In an other post, you mentioned organic pot. How much of that pot is grown by peaceful tax paying growers in Colorado and how much is soaked in blood? No, the corrupt oligarchs in Mexico have no fucking business lecturing us about our gun laws. How much is from out of state by the tie dyed Kochs? When I go hiking, yes I carry. The pepper spray is for the bears.

(7 posts)According to the FBI and CDC, about 10,000 are killed by firearms every year. This includes justified shootings by police, gang on gang killings in Chicago every other weekend, and justified home defense shootings. In a country of 310 million.
About 17,000 to 19,000 kill themselves via a firearm every year; tragic yes, but ultimately a self inflicted decision/action. No more tragic than the 6,000 that hang themselves every year of the 4000 that suffocate themselves to death every year.
Gun homicides fell 39% from 1993-2011. Fact from Holder's BJS.

Funny how you never seem to post when it is the gun owners being called names though.

(24,135 posts)and go away.
You all have manged to close any and all discussion in GD where there's like minded people like me. You want to hide the latest bad news on guns. Instead I have to come over here and get talking points about pools and Hitler. Mocking the moms and me is just as prevalent here, although not as vulgar.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1172&pid=154620
There's a reason I don't go to Moms Against Gun Violence rallies - it's because I'm afraid some nut with a gun in his car will snap. They threaten, stalk us online. DU gun owners talk SHIT about me, Bloomberg and other moms with twisted glee.
GGJohn
(9,951 posts)No, what we would like is for you and your like to condemn those that would urge violence on OC citizen's equally.
As for those locked threads in GD, you'll have to take that up with the Admins, they're the ones that set the rules, not the pro gun members here on DU.

(5,455 posts)My comment "Welcome to the Internet" was meant to point out that this contemptible behavior happens a lot on a wide variety of topics, not just guns, on the internet
The gun control extremist posts here probably do gun owners more good then harm, I suspect many who don't take normally take sides read the threads and see the petty insults, irrational fear and the inability to discuss things calmly from gun control extremists. I seriously doubt those posts are winning you a lot of support.
So post away!!!

Yeah, following the rules is only for pro-gun posters right? Oh, and we don't block posters here for their viewpoints like is done in bansalot. Whats stopping you from posting there instead of here? You did say you "have to" come over here, right? Yup:
Over here, where "nra talking points" isn't a get out of discussion free card, you mean.
DU gun owners talk SHIT about me, Bloomberg and other moms with twisted glee.
Gee, I wonder why:
(thread title "Make gun owners the new PARIAH"

Your response to the thread:
Fucking hate the gun people in this country.

Yeah, nobody should mock Shannon.
Oh look:
And theres some of that here too:

Right...because that happens so often.
Heavens no. You implied in another thread, that you wish to talk about the 30,000 who die each and every year by guns.
I'd like to see you put your money where your mouth is, by starting with John Crawford. Or doesn't He matter?

(68,644 posts)This line was not in the article, OMG!
It sure looks to me like a low brow taunt, an undignified challenge, or something divisive and not conducive toward constructive dialogue.
That's one of the entertaining things about what passes for serious postings here, the irony!
