Man displays gun, gets uninvited to Chick-Fil-A

NICEVILLE - Police were summoned to a fast-food restaurant after receiving reports of a man displaying a gun.

On July 21 the Niceville Police Department dispatched officers to the Chick-Fil-A on John Sims Parkway after an employee reported a man wearing an orange T-shirt and jeans, weighing about 350 pounds, with red hair, was armed with a handgun and displaying it inside the business.

When they arrived officers found a man who matched the description and moved toward him. They asked the man to step outside so they could talk to him. The man said, "Before we do, can I show you something?" and reached toward his waistline. The officer grabbed his hand and told him not to reach toward his pants for any reason.

An officer asked the man if he were armed with a gun. The man said he was and had a concealed weapon permit. They went outside to continue the conversation.

he might have just bought some food and contributed to Chickfilas anti-gay crusade rather than being expelled with his cash.

No I'm not saying all anti-gun folks hate homosexuals. But it does make you think.

to carry guns anytime, anywhere, even into schools and churches. Can't begin to imagine why a fast-food restaurant should be exempt.

the person, not the tool.

You don't blame drunk driving on cars or meth addiction on household cleaners.

What makes guns unique in your opinion?

idiots have no trouble obtaining guns and even, apparently concealed carry permits. Or, they blithely don't bother with such a thing.

Gun proponents keep on making the claim that guns make us safer. And, they (or at least the NRA and not enough sensible, truly responsible gun owners are willing to repudiate that organization) keep on saying it's perfectly okay to carry guns everywhere. Laws even get passed in some states, so I understand, that do not allow business or even churches to exempt themselves from guns being carried in.

And so, every year in this country about 10,000 people die from what's quaintly referred to as gun violence, and about another 15,000 commit suicide with a gun. And of course, this is totally acceptable. What is it about the idea that if there weren't so many guns about, maybe far fewer people would die from them, that escapes the gun apologists? Oddly enough, in other countries with extremely limited access to gun, hardly anyone dies from them. I wonder why?

Most of those ten thousand are criminals killing other criminals, esp gang warfare
Do you seriously believe those suicides would have been prevented?

I have.

And yes, most of those suicides would not have occurred had guns not been so readily available. Again, in other countries, with so many fewer guns at hand, fewer people kill themselves. Yes, there are plenty of other ways to commit suicide, but more than half of them in this country are with (I bet you can guess already) guns.

I'm a truly responsible gun owner with a ccl and even though I don't belong to the NRA, why would I repudiate them? They are, after all, making sure that my second amendment rights are not eroded or taken away.

There are no laws that say a private business can't ban firearms, there are some states that say an employer can't ban firearms from their parking lot, but can ban them inside their building.

In Japan, where private gun ownership is banned, they have one of the highest suicide rates in the world, and they do it w/o guns.
How do you explain that?

Fact is that if someone wants to off themself, they're going to find a way to do it.

Fewer guns will result in fewer gun deaths. That's true, every time.

Fewer guns, however, will not result in fewer deaths.

My questions is this: Why are gun deaths worse than other deaths?
