Pa. Deputy Hurt by Accidental Shot in Courthouse Office

"Both deputies unloaded their weapons prior to the training exercise, a department requirement."

Both Parsons and the other deputy involved in the accident are certified firearms instructors, Weaknecht said.

It was unclear why they were conducting the training on one of the top floors of the courthouse while hundreds of county employees and civilians were in the building going about their everyday business.

Heim said the incident shows the dangers of guns.

Obviously not, right?

My (wild-ass) guess is that these guys were just sitting in the workspace with nothing better to do, talking about the new holster, and they decided to 'experiment' - it wasn't a "training exercise" in any regular sense. One of them forgot to take the round out of the chamber when he "unloaded", and the other one managed to reach inside the holster and hit the trigger during the horseplay exercise.

But I guess they've developed some support for their complaints about the new holster...
