Are there any liberal militias I can join?

The reason I ask is not because I actually want to join a militia. Rather, it is related to a commonly discussed topic in the gungeon, which is whether or not gun control is a liberal policy. For example, there was a recent OP in the gungeon entitled "Does not agreeing with the DNC about gun control make me less of a Democrat?"

Anyway, back to militias. The question "Are there any liberal militias I can join?" is obviously a rhetorical question, used to make the point that most pro-gun extremists, like the militia people, tend to come from the fringe right.

But y'all knew that. The question is, why would an OP making this point get locked?

As for your question about militia's - why don't you look into your states firearms laws? See what licensing requirements are. See if any of that interests you. Register for and meet all the requirements for the license of your choice. Join a local gun club. Talk to people along the way, including the administering police departments etc. and see how many militia members are waiting with open arms to sign you up.

In general I think that you will find most gun rights groups and organizations will tilt heavily to the right. Annoyingly so. IMO, disgustingly so.

I can understand one issue voting, but many enthusiasts are openly disdainful of democrats and liberals. My answer there is - learn to deal with it and focus on the second amendment.

The 2A is just as important as the 1A - and the rest. I don't think that you can pick and choose what applies when it comes to the Bill of Rights. However in today's culture, there are a host ancillary social and economic issues that must be confronted and dealt with to insure the continued freedom to keep and bear arms.

So you admit the OP was an poor attempt at trolling the 2A forum.

Kinda like delicate flowers, toter baser gunners stormfront type comments are for no reason but to disrupt threads.

Maybe militia questions should be directed toward DU's military forum, or the State the OP lives in.

It has to do with whether support for gun control is a liberal policy. This is not "trolling", it is a legitimate topic that many people, including pro-gun people discuss here frequently.

You need to recognize that the gungeon is not meant to be a safe haven for RKBA supporters. There are also GC supporters in here, and the fact that right-wing craziness runs rampant within the gun culture is surely a legitimate point to make.

I am an Ind. Lib. I served my country honorably. I did not allow one in my home when my children were growing up.However, living in the Panhandle of Fl. I saw close up what happened during the aftermath of Katrina. We now have a large dog, (that gives momma the time she needs to get to a weapon), ready to go Shotguns, & other personal defense items. It's not just the looters we need to watch out for, but those who will abuse the power that “we the people” have given them. Please! please! please! If you own a weapon make dam sure you train regularly with the weapon you use.

Welcome to DU and the gungeon.
I also served my country as a soldier in the same war as you, now I'm a LT. for a police dept. in MO. I regularly train on my dept. issued G21, I also train on my dept. issued Remington 870 shotgun and also my personal AR-15 that I carry in my patrol car.
I am a staunch gun rights supporter and I also staunchly support law abiding citizens being able to obtain a CC permit if they meet MO's qualifications.

we might not be in this mess today.

Too many liberals spent the last thirty years profiting from conservative policies. Do you really think conservatives were the only ones portfolio padding, house flipping, toy buying and lifestyle enhancing in this country?

If the left gets hungry enough the militias will show up. That's why this election is so important. Maybe you should take up the issue at your next round table meeting at Starbucks. Surely there's a survey study out there somewhere that will suit you.

Of course, the terms of service prohibit people calling for the violent political or social change, which would seem to be one aspect of the militia types, but I don't think that's what you're doing here.

Militia members seem to want to spend a lot of time camping, hiking, learning wilderness survival, and target shooting, which points towards Outdoor Life.

However, if you want to have a discussion about what kind of gun to buy so you can prepare for armed self-defense after the US government collapses, feel free to start a thread about that.

Bear in mind that for hunting for food after the US government collapses, though, you'll need to go to Outdoor Life.

below and learn more about your options.

State Guard Association of the United States (SGAUS) and State defense force

If you are between 17 and 45 and male, and not in an excepted position, you are already a member of the unorganized militia under federal law, 10 USC 311 - Militia: composition and classes

State laws are different and in one state, all people between 17 and 64 are part of the militia, see http://legis.la.gov/lss/lss.asp?doc=85523

Finally, congress has been derelict in performing its duties under our Article I of our Constitution, "To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the Militia."

That responsibility includes the unorganized militia that is unorganized, unarmed, and undisciplined.

The above laws apply equally to conservative, liberal, and all other political persuasions.
