Not sure where to post this question.Do you have a recommendation for

a gun magazine that is not full of rw propaganda/NRA junk. My gson wants a subscription for Christmas. Thanks and if I'm in the wrong place, please redirect me.

was with his mom and asked for a copy. Decided we would research this type of magazine for a Christmas present. She did not buy the copy he saw so not sure what that one was. Before we got anything we wanted to make sure the mag was about guns and not some "Obama and the Democrats are going to take away your weapons, etc." rag.

items of interest to gun owners, it's hard to escape that completely. When I was a kid I liked the magazines published by Peterson's..."Peterson's Hunting" in particular. They also publish a rifle magazine called "Peterson's Rifle Shooter". They also publish "Guns and Ammo" IIRC. Even if there is some political content in these publications he will probably not be interested and will read the sections about the things that interest him. Most of the articles in the Peterson Mags stay on-topic and few have political commentary unless that is the topic of the article, which as I said, I doubt he will be interested in anyway. As with any adolescent who is exploring the adult media, kids need people to help them understand bias and not to believe everything they read. The shooting sports in my youth made me a better person, and Peterson's Hunting made me a better hunter and instilled good hunting ethics and stewardship.. IMO.

"liberals with guns" is a political site, not a magazine and the information there, however useful, probably wouldn't interest a 12 year old who is interested in shooting...just guessing.

.... and I subscribed to it for many years. But I think it was a little too advanced and specialized for an 11 year old.

I found Shooting Times to be most general.

about ecological and climate change issues, and was not afraid to point out McCain's backing of an AWB.

I have copies of old F&S issues (60s). Little made of gun control, little objection made to coverage of enviormental issues. In fact, even the modest NRA ads made little mention of gun control issues.

But that was before the Culture Wars got going.

I haven't received it for a few years but they do a great job on general shooting interests.

I was the youngest and going to gun safety class and started to have an interest in guns. I don't know how much political stuff there is in the magazine these days.

(About the same time I remember wanting a Lee Load All in the worst way. I was told to wait until I was older. I never did get that thing).

Something like this:

"We safety-wire the dreadful M60 to prevent it from shaking itself apart while a quarter of a million of the finest light machine guns ever made - the M1919A4 - rot in cosmoline."

I found Gun Tests to be practical & relatively apolitical when I subscribed about five years ago. All they do is evaluate the fit, form, & function of firearms, which they buy via a regular FFL (rather than have gun companies send free samples to them). I learned a lot from them during the 2 or so years I subscribed.
