E-mailed and called my Repub Congressman about gun control a few minutes ago.

Below is what I basically said to the staffer who took my phone call and what I wrote in the e-mail:

"Dear Dr. Benishek,

I respectfully ask that you consider proposing or supporting gun control legislation that would prohibit the following:

The manufacture and importation of any long gun detachable magazine that holds more then 5 rounds.

The manufacture and importation of any semi-automatic long gun that has a barrel length of less then 20".

The manufacture and importation of any semi-automatic handgun.

The manufacture and importation of any handgun detachable magazine that would extend past the bottom the grip of the handgun.

The manufacture and importation of semi-automatic handguns, semi-automatic long guns with barrels less then 20", long gun detachable magazines that hold more then 5 rounds and detachable magazines for handguns that extend down past the bottom of the grip for sale directly to law enforcement agencies and the military would remain legal.

I would like to add that this would not entirely prevent the sale of newly manufactured or importing of semi-automatic long guns such as the AR-15 as they are availble with barrels of 20" or longer. Nor would it prevent anyone who owns a semi-automatic handgun from purchasing new replacement magazines for their gun as long as they don't extend down past the bottom of the grip of the gun.

7. I made it strickly about gun control

I didn't want to take the time to write a book about all the things that affect gun crime such as: mental health, lack of jobs, drugs, domestic violence and so on and send that to my representative and senators.

Health Care. We have defunded Mental Health Care for over 20 years now and our society is paying a HUGE price for it.
