A shooting at a US Air Force base in Texas has left at least two people dead, police say.

Bexar County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a shooting at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland around 09:00 local time, a spokesman said.

The base is the home of the US Air Force's basic training programme.

The Sheriff's office said they believe it is a murder-suicide but are searching a building on the base to confirm.

It's a murderous attack or terrorism or armed assault.
I'm out of cheese so I'm having a "cheese situation". If I were being shot at, I don't think I could be so aloof as to call it a "shooting situation". Journalism is the worst!

requires unbiased reporting, they can only report and that means avoiding making judgements... too many faux journalists already do that and it is, sadly, becoming the norm.

"Situation" is a term used by law enforcement as an event in progress isn't always fully assessed while it is in progress - it best describes an event and its status without judgement.

"There's something happening here, what it is ain't exactly clear. There's a man with a gun over there..."

There was a gun, there was an assault. It's at least an armed assault. "Situation" is a nothing description. It just cancels all the way through, and conveys no information.

for those reporting with little info. Seems that we were given what was available, be patient, details at six.

Two airmen shot dead in 'workplace violence' at Texas air base

SAN ANTONIO | BY JIM FORSYTH

Two airmen were killed in a "a workplace violence incident" on Friday at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, military officials said, with media outlets reporting that an airman shot his commanding officer and then himself.

Two weapons identified as Glocks were found at the scene, Brigadier General Robert LaBrutta, Commander, Joint Base San Antonio, told a news conference. LaBrutta said the two men were the only casualties and he declined to provide further details such as a possible motive.

"This was a workplace violence incident and not the result of a terrorist attack," the U.S. Air Force Joint Base San Antonio said in a statement.

The Air Force Times, citing internal Pentagon communications, reported the commanding officer of a training squadron at the base was shot by an airman who then apparently killed himself in a classroom building.
