Vice President's son, Beau Biden, leads march to the polls
Beau Biden and the former top enlisted Marine led a march Saturday from the N.C. Veterans Park to the nearby Cumberland County Board of Elections to rally support for President Obama.
Biden, son of Vice President Joe Biden and attorney general of Delaware, told the crowd of about 50 people that only one candidate understands how to help service members and veterans.
With just more than two weeks until Election Day, Biden and retired Command Sgt. Maj. John Estrada touted the president's record in foreign policy and at home. They pointed to the end of the Iraq war, the death of Osama bin Laden, expanded GI Bill benefits and increasing budgets for veterans health care as signs that Obama has the troops' best interests at heart.
Biden painted Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan, the challengers on the Republican ticket, as out of touch with the military, citing Romney's failure to mention Afghanistan in his speech accepting the Republican nomination and cuts to VA spending in Ryan's proposed budget.
