I believe this sister deserves our support.

OK I have lurking around DU almost long enough to be an old timer. Almost.

Over this time I have said little and learned so much that I feel a little guilty for not contributing at least something. If I had something worthwhile. I mean there is no shortage of fluff posters who want to be noticed or get their post numbers up. I have never really felt the need for ether. Plus I am old school and there is thing about being able to look someone when they are trying to convince me of something.

Then there is this young woman.

The funny thing is, the book is secondary to the story I'd like to tell you about her. However, it is her story and not mine, so I am waiting for her to give that, or better yet, become a new DU'er. I only found out about the book last week. You see, I work with with bright young woman, and we have had many whisper conversations about how oppression happens in progressive non-profits. Which is what I want to post.

So the book. In the part of the country we live in, I don't think she has gotten much support. Although I have not yet read the book, I plan to pick it up this weekend and read it. Further, I believe this sister deserves our support. I would like to show her the power of a little DU love. The title itself struck something in me, and I would like the explore where this can go, adding both men, and other ethnicity in the conversation. However, as I have yet to read the book, I do not know if it can hold up to the DU smell test. I can and I do support this human. Now lets see if I can hold up to the smell test.

Remember she will be watching, and as an author, I am sure she wants to know the value of her work. I want let her know no matter what, what she has to say has value. Will you join me in this discussion hear in the in the AA forum. If it is worth it I would like to see more book culture support for her.

Hope that was not too rambling. And I am not going to do a good job of prof reading, I have to go to work now.

I haven't read this or heard anything about this one. It sounds great.

Some of the best posts in this forum over the years have been as the members here reflect on what our parents, grandparents etc. have gone through as black people in America.
