Hillary Clinton on Laquan McDonald shooting: 'We cannot go on like this'

Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has afternoon plunged into the heated debate surrounding the police killing of a black teenager in Chicago, saying “we cannot go on like this”, following the release of a video showing Laquan McDonald being shot multiple times by an officer on the street.

She also put the death in a national context, lamenting “the loss of so many young African Americans taken too soon” in a statement released on Twitter as Chicago continued to simmer in the wake of protests on the night the video was made public.

She added that the country needed to grapple with broader questions.

“The mothers I met recently in Chicago are right: we cannot go on like this. All over America, there are police officers honorably doing their duty, demonstrating how to protect the public without resorting to unnecessary force. We need to learn from and build on those examples,” she said.

She spoke of a need for more effort, while appearing to lament the spate of deaths across the country that have sparked a national re-examination of policing and race relations since a series of police killings sparked unrest and protest from Ferguson, Missouri, to Baltimore and elsewhere over the past 16 months.

from the dash cam video that was recently released. http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1187&pid=33318

Everyone should look at that video. It was carefully edited to not show anything graphic (thank God) but the video interspersed with the comments from the prosecutor make for very impactful viewing. That son of a bitch should be put UNDER the fucking jail for shooting that boy THREE TIMES as he was laying, dying on the ground.

BLM as I am talking about how outraged we should all be by this ...

Let's get the discussion open, once and for all.

MANY cops, especially white cops, are afraid of and dislike Black people, period.

Institutional racism and a fucked up court system puts minorities in ghettos and then wonders why some of them break the law.

Cant lay all the blame with police for the attitude they have, but we have to stop them from murdering people.

Then we have to drastically work on this fucked up system

Those last 3 shots were in anger and hatred.

But you're right, those last three shots are so disturbing and telling. And had absolutely fuck all to do with law enforcement even though the prick did the usual "I feared for my life" bit.

So fucking afraid of a teenaged black boy that he was still terrified of him after shooting at him 16 times, hitting him God knows how times, and with him lying, face down in a pool of blood in the street. STILL scared shitless of this black boy when he wasn't even FUCKING moving.

white folks would simply burn down the country if after two hundred fucking years this shit was still going on

and NONE of the shots fired were OK by any means, but a normal person doesnt shoot you after you are already down unless he hates you

the way that prick in Ferguson shot Michael in the head after he was already shot and falling down
