She had such a magnificent instrument. What a shame that her personal life was not a happier one.

My condolences to her family.

May she rest in peace.

had so much that should have been nominated for Oscars. Most notably the soundtrack and Angela Bassett's performance.

R.I.P. Whitney. Your personal struggles are now done.

A bevy of gorgeous black females, aged 6 (or so) to 60 (or so) including Chaka Khan, my girls in TLC and others.

All wearing black (except TLC). All breathtaking. All beautiful. I'd forgotten about this video until they played it last night on a Whitney Houston tribute and the memories this song/video brought back had me in tears.

I had a tape or maybe CD of the Bodyguard soundtrack. I used to listen to this song over and over and over dancing around.

my heart is still broken over it. Her voice was so beautiful. The fact that she could sing so quietly and breathlessly--just pure tone come from her throat--speaks to what a remarkable singer she was. And no autotune for her either! She didn't have to rely on gimmicks and machinery--she has golden vocal chords.

What anguish she must have been in to believe that death by her own hand was the only reasonable option.

PLEASE don't tell me that! Please do NOT tell me that's what happened.
