I was 13 during Freedom Summer and followed the ongoing attempts at Justice all those decades. Interestingly, I was reading the book, Freedom Summer, and finished it just before Michael Brown's murder at the hands of a white officer. I thought the same thing as your post. 50 years gone by, and here we are.

Of course, Michael Brown wasn't buried in a dam enbankment and there aren't 13 white men being indicted. However, police where involved in the murders in Mississippi and police are still murdering young and unarmed African Americans and claiming it's justified. Seems like some things don't change.
