Pittsburgh police make no arrests after PNC Park fight involving Reds pitcher Mat Latos' wife

Pittsburgh police said today that the wife of a Cincinnati Reds pitcher was among 20 to 30 people involved in a mostly verbal fight last night inside PNC Park.

Pittsburgh police Sgt. John Fisher said at a morning press conference that park security guards went to the Budweiser Bowtie Bar in right field about 9:30 p.m. for a report of a fight between Pirates and Reds fans.

When they arrived, they found 20 to 30 people who were screaming, cursing and threatening people with violence.

Police identified seven people they wanted to eject from the ballpark, including two women who were with Dallas Latos, wife of Reds pitcher Mat Latos.

Sgt. Fisher said Ms. Latos was in the group that was fighting and that she then reported to police that a woman punched her two or three times in the head and neck.

San Diego Padres pitcher Mat Latos took a little jab at the San Francisco Giants, all in the name of charity.

A San Diego-area memorabilia store advertised three baseballs with Latos' signature and the words "I hate SF" below. The balls sold for $1,100, with half going to the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association.

So I can't say I'm surprised that his wife's a jerk, too, albeit a lovely one.

And how is it Pittsburgh's fault that fans of the visiting team got into a barroom brawl?
