Ex-Cowboy Josh Brent was driving drunk at 110 mph before fatal crash, officer says
Former Dallas Cowboy Josh Brent was drunk and driving at least 110 mph when he flipped his Mercedes, killing best friend and teammate Jerry Brown Jr., an Irving police crash investigator testified Wednesday.
James Fairbairns testimony came on the third day of Brents trial. Brent is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the December 2012 death of Brown, 25. The two had been partying with other Cowboys at a Dallas club in the hours before the wreck.

Trial evidence Wednesday showed that the posted speed limit on the service road where the crash occurred was 45 mph. Brent estimated to police that he was driving 65 or 70. Tests showed his blood alcohol content after the crash was 0.18 percent more than twice the legal limit for driving of 0.08 percent.
As the car flipped, Fairbairn testified, the impact pushed Brown on top of Brent.
Jerry Brown cushioned Josh Brent, the officer told jurors.
