More Whining from the Canadians

SOCHI, Russia -- Canadian ice dance silver medalists Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir bemoaned the split allegiance of coach Marina Zoueva, who also works with American gold medalists Meryl Davis and Charlie White.

They spoke Tuesday, hours after the free dance was won by their Michigan training partners.

"We sometimes felt like [Zoueva] wasn't in our corner," Moir said, more in the way of stating a fact as he and Virtue perceived it than as a complaint. "We had some odd things happen this year. We expected Marina to be on our team and work with us like in Vancouver."

That didn't happen for the 2010 gold medalists, although they insisted they understood why Zoueva spent so much time with Davis and White, and they praised Zoueva for how she handled the dicey situation.

Freaking sore loser divas!

1. I don't recall so much whining as in this Olympics.

Here we go again. They should've found another coach if it was so bad, and for so long. They were the champs, so it's only natural that their coach would spend time with the other two, who might have needed the extra attention. Bunch of sour grapes.

2. The ice dancing establishment frowns on this...

You can call it rigged, you can call it subjective, but these Canadians will never win another gold...they'll start dropping at events...there is very little difference between some of the top teams, and stuff like this is bound to influence a fraction of a point here and there.

3. If the U.S. team had questioned the coach's loyalty when the Canadians won gold in 2010

the Canadians would have called THEM "freaking sore loser divas!"

And solving your coaching problem is very simple -- either tell her to pick a side or replace her yourself!
