Mickey van der Hart gives up embarrassing goal to parent club

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/yahoo-sportsdash/mickey-van-der-hart-gives-up-embarrassing-goal-to-parent-club-004204420.html

Mickey van der Hart has a bright future. The 20-year-old goalkeeper has already seen action with the U-21 Dutch national team. But while playing on loan from Ajax for the Go Ahead Eagles on Sunday, van der Hart made one of the most embarrassing blunders you'll ever see on the pitch.

Wesley Verhoek played the ball back to van der Hart in the 88th minute of a 1-1 tie and the keeper whiffed on it. The own goal gave Ajax a critical victory and solidified the team's hold of second place in the Eredivisie Dutch League standings. If Ajax can hold on to its current spot, a berth in the lucrative Champions League awaits. As for the Go Ahead Eagles, the loss was extremely costly. Van der Hart's temporary team is in 15th place in the 18-team league, only three points ahead of SC Heracles Almelo. The 16th and 17th-place sides must face each other in a playoff to avoid relegation to the second division.

While it seems suspicious, judging by van der Hart's reaction, the moment was not premeditated. In the English Premier League, players are not allowed to play against their parent clubs. No such rule exists in the Eredivisie.
