In Just 5 Moves, Grandmaster Loses And Leaves Chess World Aghast

Here's an abridged list of phrases you might not expect to be spoken in anguish by a chess play-by-play announcer:

"What's going on? What the hell is going on? What. Is. Going. On??"

"Has she gone mental?"

"I've done this kind of bet when I've been extremely drunk with my friends. ... This is the kind of thing you'd see in a primary school or from a very drunk person."

The only thing I could think of when reading it is that it's like explaining a cricket loss to an American.

I'm sure it meant something to chess fans, but it went over my non-chess head.

it is known that she wants to compete against men, who dominate the chess world, but she was "randomly" paired against women 7 out of 10 times, extremely improbable given the number of men in the field.

she threw the game in protest.
