New to me

Just bought a 2019 Chevy Volt with 45k on the clock. So far I have spent $56.00 on gas since 9/20/23. Sold my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7L. I would have spent that on one tank of gas every week. I love this vehicle, 50 mile on electric the the ICE kicks in and powers a generator that supplied electricity to the electric motor. No range anxiety. Chevy screwed up canceling this car in 2019.

I bought mine for $17k and it had 45k on the clock. It is a LT so it doesn't have all the bells and whistle goodies but I still get 58 miles on a charge with easy driving. The Primier version has leather and heated seats and steering wheel etc.. Average price is between $19k and $23k.

The Volt is a hybrid, but also a plug in? And has a gas engine? What is the ICE you noted?

I need a SUV or van to load my husband's wheelchair and oxygen easier. A car trunk is too small and difficult for me. Not 100% certain the RAV4 is the way to go, but I've had great experiences with Toyotas over the years. I hate car shopping, I get so confused in addition to always feeling like I'm making a bad deal.

Enjoy your new car, for many happy miles.

ICE means internal combustion engine. It is a plug in hybrid but the ICE only powers a generator, when you've exhausted just the battery. The ICE then starts and runs the generator which supplies electricity to power the electric drive motor. There is no range anxiety because you go as far as the gas will take you before refilling the gas tank. A pretty ingenious idea Chevy had there.
