Like the swans and sandhill cranes all left at the equinox this year, kind of early.

But haven't seen them departing southwards yet.

We did have a huge heron on our farm pond the other morning.

Has been lovely for me/us (until last days and darned TRAFFIC,) and very happy to have found MAINE, just WONDERFUL! 570 miles from southern MD to Portland, a BIG round trip number.

9. N.J. Audubon used to get permission to take a group into the Great Swamp in late October.

The swamp has pools where migrating ducks rest for the night and then continue their journey in the morning.

Flocks of ducks would fly in and land in the water. Then the evening would be filled with the sound of "quacking" ducks.

13. My state is on the migration route for Canada Geese,

and one October, I was driving north when the sky was full of flocks of geese that were flying south. As I passed an industrial office park, V-formation after V-formation was coming in for a landing at a pond outside of one of the office buildings. I felt like I was driving by and under the O’Hare Airport for birds!
