(49,533 posts)Yes, that site that you enjoy so much is full of anti-progressive content, railing against marriage equality, gay rights, trans rights, reproductive rights, etc. So "thanks" for giving us some nice FOX News style "balance" to what we normally read on DU. You're doin' the lord's work for sure, GB.

(42,641 posts)Are you saying that every RCC believes every position, or supports every position? Does every Democrat think identically on every issue?
Is there to be no open discussion on DU about religion? And can that discussion also encompass the positives, or do you feel that this religion group must focus solely on negative news?

(29,225 posts)as far as I read, that was plenty... petition to restore marriage to G-d's plan, etc.

(42,641 posts)and these issues are being debated constantly. Just as not every Democrat supports every single plank in the Democratic platform, not every believer supports every current position of the RCC.

But many RCC voters voted for Clinton. Not a majority, unfortunately, but enough to show that there is no unanimity in the RCC on many issues.

(42,641 posts)But people of faith also vote for Democrats, and I do not feel that Democrats should insist on 100% adherence to one particular set of goals. As the Clinton/Sanders debate showed, Democrats embrace a wide spectrum of opinions on many issues.
So if people at DU feel the need to demonize Catholics and other people of faith, I feel this is counterproductive to the idea of growing the Party.
