Related: About this forumTrump Gives Evidence Of Being An Atheist!
From the short article:
A provocative piece. If Trump really is an atheist, perhaps he hides it because he realizes that, unfortunately, atheism IS treated as wrong by many in the faith community.
But considering that Trump is essentially a con man, the con might be his only real belief.

Then again he doesn't know about a lot of things, any believes in things that are demonstrably false.

(49,533 posts)So? Plenty of Christians haven't read their bible much themselves, but rely on pastors and other church leaders to tell them what's in it. This has a long history going back to when the uneducated and illiterate masses relied on the priest class to educate them. Additionally, surveys have shown that most atheists are more knowledgeable about religion than religious people:

Christians don't ever talk about themselves?
Got news for ya - if that's a sign of someone not being a Christian, then most Christians in the USA aren't Christian.

This is perhaps the most problematic of them all. Many liberal, tolerant Christians don't believe in a "final judgment" of any kind. They don't believe in hell; they think everyone goes to heaven. This is suggesting that those Christians aren't Christians either. Do you agree?

(9,116 posts)...so what? It wouldn't be the first time a total asshole didn't believe in god, and I doubt it would be the last.
But we both know what's really going on with this OP. It's a (not especially) clever trap to make atheists look like hypocrites by dismissing Donald Trump's supposed non-belief while continuing to take the RCC to task for, you know, raping children and covering it up. The trouble is -- and is it telling that the OP doesn't seem to realize this -- is that atheism isn't a church, or a religion, or a moral philosophy. It only describes whether or not one accepts or rejects claims of the existence of deities. That's it.
Atheism describes my lack of belief in deities. Secular Humanism describes my ethics. Donald Trump may very well be the former, but he sure as shit isn't the latter.

An attempt to dismiss our individuality.
