Church gives unity meeting the boot, citing conflicts with Catholic beliefs

http://riverheadlocal.com/2017/03/21/church-gives-unity-meeting-boot-citing-conflicts-catholic-beliefs/

The “unity town hall” slated for Sunday afternoon at St. John the Evangelist School in Riverhead has been relocated.
The March 26 meeting will instead be held at the Hilton Garden Inn on Route 58 in Riverhead, according to Sonia Spar, one of the organizers.
The Catholic parish informed the group it would not be welcome to use its facilities because the meeting agenda — or some of it — “conflicts with our Catholic beliefs and values,” according to the church secretary. The rescinded invitation was announced at masses this weekend.

..

The parish did not specify the conflicts with Catholic teaching that led to Duncklee’s decision, but speakers at the “unity town hall” event will include representatives of Planned Parenthood and the LGBTQ community.
Planned Parenthood advocates for women’s reproductive freedom and provides birth control as well as abortion services. Both are contrary to fundamental teachings of the church. The Roman Catholic catechism, which sets forth the dogmas and basic tenets of the church, says that homosexual acts are “intrinsically disordered,” contrary to the natural law and “under no circumstances” can be approved.

..
The parish’s decision left organizers scrambling over the weekend to locate a new venue for the meeting.

Wait...so I thought we are supposed to embrace tolerance and diversity of thoughts? Oh right...those rules only apply to Atheists who dare criticize church doctrine and input on laws that affect ALL people, not just the religious

My family was a typical Southern Baptist family. My dad repeated the same thing i heard others say - they wouldn't vote for a Catholic because the Pope would be running the country. Besides that, the Catholic beliefs didn't fit too well with those of the Baptist faith.

Catholics had better wake up. A table is being set and they won't have a seat when all is said and done. The Pope sees it, and the bishops and priests had better be opening their eyes to see for themselves and thier ears to what their leader is saying.
