I know it's just anecdotal, but my very moderate, raised Southern Baptist neighbor is

calling for the money-changers to be purged from the church.

Out in the backyard, me with my dogs, her with her cats, we stopped to chat over the back fence. She's always a really sweet person, but oh so very very intense this evening. Passionately declaiming against "rapture heresy" and blasphemers judging other people's lives. Even said the churches are ordaining business men, not true men of God, and they should all be taxed.

I often do most of the talking, not so this evening. She was "on fire".

Rapture, is all about Death, not Life at all. She was telling me how eager some of her friends are for the Rapture to happen right now and she is shocked by their desire that other people should suffer.

The only time Jesus got really angry was when he drove the moneychangers from the temple. "My father's house is a house of prayer, and you have made it a house of commerce". Then he made a whip of ropes, and drove them from the temple.

(of course, they keep moving the date) and even made preparations.

Then, I saw that Rev. Schuller was crying for some money from his bankruptcy case during which it was exposed that 20 members of his family and/or friends were living high on donations to the Crystal Cathedral and were concerned about how they would survive.

These people are crooks and I get so disgusted whenever I see how they have ripped off people in the name of God. Too bad the others haven't been caught.

I'm glad your neighbor finally caught on.

5. In my favorite translation it says ministers shouldn't be moneygrubbers.

Schuller evidently skipped that chapter.

The Schullers have stiffed all their "unsecured creditors," mostly people who had helped them for decades and trusted their good Xian hearts.

e.g., Kristina Oliver and her family provided live animals for the Crystal Cathedral's big holiday productions - camels, sheep etc. The Cathedral went under owing them $57,000.

The Oliver family included a husband with cancer and two very young kids. They were evicted from their house at Xmas thanks to the Schuller family playing deadbeats...though I'd be willing to bet none of the Schullers will face an eviction or even miss a car payment. Ms. Oliver is currently living in a trailer, in her mother-in-law's back yard:

And they start to see the truth. Don't pander to us and pretend to be something else. This whole "silly-putty" ticket needs to go back to where they came from. Malleable Mitt and Lyin' Ryan have to go!
