An atheist in Russia might wind up behind bars for posting nun porn on a social networking site, RIA Novosti reports.

According to the Russian news agency, prosecutors accuse 30-year-old Andrei Korablev of posting a 40-second video of “masturbation ... featuring a nun” on Russia’s version of Facebook, Vkontakte.

Korablev could face up to six years in jail for displaying porn on the Internet.

The Siberian man is active in the Tyumen Region’s atheist community. He claims that “homegrown religious fundamentalists” from the Tyumen City Parental Committee alerted police about the video to punish him for being part of the local League of Militant Atheists.

1. Nun porn? Yeah, that's really going to help him achieve his stated goals.

If I am reading this right, he's facing a pornography charge and not a charge about offending religious people.

Is that right?

2. That may be one of the charges but Russia passed a new law in June.

In June, Russian lawmakers passed a law that makes insulting religious believers a crime that could land offenders in jail for up to three years.

In a statement given to the court, prosecutors claimed that the video “offended the feelings of religious believers.” The court document didn’t accuse Korablev of that crime.

The defendant is complaining that that's the motive but he doesn't seem to be charged with it.

There are more of them than I thought. I believe they won't do much for anyone who doesn't have the Catholic background.

6. If he's into specialty porn, why is he complaining about religious fundamentalists?
