The Episcopal Church of Scotland is more liberal than the other Anglican churches of Britian and Ireland.

The COS has always been more right but they are moving in the left direction.

After American independence Seabury traveled to the UK seeking consecration as a Bishop in order to establish an Anglican hierarchy in the new United States. The English refused it on the grounds that as an American citizen he could no longer swear loyalty to the King. Seabury then went to the Scottish Episcopal Church and their Bishops consecrated him. That caused a bit of concern in London that the new American church would becoming a Jacobite institution so they made provision for the consecration of non British Bishops soon thereafter. Seabury and other Bishops consecrated by the Church of England later consecrated fellow Americans as Bishops, ensuring an Anglican hierarchy in the states.
