Debbie Wasserman Schultz mentioned that Sanders is a member of this caucus. I did not know that such exists.
It was during a discussion on MSNBC about Hillary may be the first woman president, or Sanders the first Jew. And when Chris Matthews tried to say that Sanders does not exactly present himself, or thinks of himself as a Jew, she insisted that he is a member of the caucus.

(53,957 posts)Sanders is a Jew and has said so. He simply is not religious. Not hard math, but it seems to be for quite a few people. As for a Jewish Congressional caucus, never heard of it. I'll take a look around.
Quick looksee: there is nothing official. I found this...

And then there is this:
The bipartisan group started Tuesday recognizes the developing ties between the two communities.
The four caucus co-chairs each spoke during the opening ceremony of the shared interests and values held by the Latino and Jewish communities. The leaders Reps. Xavier Becerra (D-Calif.), Eliot Engel (D-N.Y.), Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.) and Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) said they hoped the caucus can foster progress on joint issues of concern.

(53,957 posts)I just did a really, really quick search because I hadn't heard of it before. I think it is really more about people trying to claim Sanders isn't a Jew. I have even noticed that on this site and a few other democratic sites. I am sure on the right they have no problem calling him a Jew.
