(1,965 posts)I had to have a port installed as I had to go in weekly. It was no sooner in when my polycythemia cleared up. After 18 months of perfect labs, I had it removed.
Anyone with a blood disorder can guess what happened next.

But yes, this will help newbies a lot while helping the poor patients even more.

People swore I had dopplers in my fingers.
My problem is that when I get sick enough to go in, my blood pressure is in the toilet and I have to tell them where the veins are.

(463 posts)I hope it spreads quickly because I dread having needles and ivs stuck into me as nurses have a hard time finding a vein they can use. I can end up feeling like a human pincushion at times during my occasional stays at the hospital and rehab.

I took a break and got some water, then put myself in a state of meditation, which I had just learned.
I didn't even feel it. I love the power of the mind.

(23,092 posts)I have shallow, deep veins and regularly have to get hit several times, with the techs/nurses rolling the needle around, and hate the whole process. I would drive further to go to a place with this technology anyday.
