Fireball lit up Texas sky, residents say; was caught on camera

(CNN) -- What burns bright green and flies through the air with its tail sticking out behind it?

Possibly a tiny remnant of a comet that disintegrated some 170 years ago.

It was a meteor, say Texas residents. Many reported seeing a fireball streaming across the Saturday night sky, a regional bureau of the National Weather Service said.

He was going down the highway here in the city and everyone hit their brakes at one time when they saw it. It lit up like daylight they say.

I saw a smaller one about 10 minutes before.
